USATF Names Team and Venue for 2018 Thorpe CupPublished by
Team USATF Announced for 2018 Thorpe Cup with New VenueBy Adam Kopet The Thorpe Cup is a multi-event competition between the U.S. and Germany. Thursday, USATF announced the team for the 2018 edition of the Thorpe Cup, as well as a new venue. Each edition of the Thorpe Cup alternates between Germany and the U.S. This year, USATF is hosting the event. It was originally scheduled to take place in Fayetteville, Ark. Instead, the 2018 Thorpe Cup will be held July 27-28 in Knoxville, Tenn. The USATF men's team will be led by Solomon Simmons, the runner-up at the 2018 USATF Outdoor Championships in the decathlon. He will be joined by Markus Ballengee, Steven Bastien, Charlie Card-Childers, Timothy Ehrhardt, Derek Jacobus and Tim Wunderlich. The women's team will be led by Lindsay Schwartz, the third-place finisher at the 2018 USATF Outdoor Championships in the heptathlon and a three-time Thorpe Cup competitor. She will be joined by Alissa Brooks-Johnson, Riley Cooks, Annie Kunz, Nikki Larch-Miller, Allison Reaser and Ashtin Zamzow. More news |
